What do our customers say about us and our competition?

Scott,

I wanted to bring you up to date on the steeple project.  We appreciate your meeting with us a week or so back - and, your input on the project.

We are looking at proceeding with the company (CIS) that was there when you were on site.  We thought that their property visit, inspection, and proposal were professionally done - and, we feel comfortable in proceeding with them.  The second local steeplejack company we met with that day was much less professional - and, we have fondly come to refer to them as "the cowboy" - everything very much shoot from the hip - and, they just did not give us the same level of comfort and confidence as the first outfit.

The first outfit (CIS) gave us two proposals - a basic proposal for doing necessary repairs to the lower sections of the steeple - primarily, tacking up pieces of siding and trim that are loose on the bottom sections of the steeple,  making necessary repairs to the spire, preparing the spire for paint, and painting the spire.  The cost for this work is just under $xxxxx which compares to just under $xxxxx for a similar job by "the cowboy."

The second proposal was for a complete renovation of the steeple with removal of the siding from the lower sections of the steeple, repair of water damage to the wood under the siding, restoration of the wood and replacing trim work, etc. that was removed when the siding was installed.  The lower sections of the steeple as well as the spire would be prepared for painting and painted.  The cost of the project is $xxxxx with an additional $xxx for an LED lighting system to light the steeple.  We will present this to Session on Wednesday and ask for up to $xxxxx for the total project.

We are looking to move forward with this project right away.  With Session approval on Wednesday, the work could begin within days - with the objective of having everything complete and cleaned up prior to Riverfest.  If that is not possible, we would definitely like to get everything completed by Labor Day.  I guess we will know more after Session meets.

Again, thanks for your help.  Any other thoughts, etc. that you can offer are welcome.

What do our clients say about us?

Dear Michael,

I wanted to personally and sincerely thank you for the outstanding craftsmanship you did to restore our 56 year old tower/spire and cupola.

The tower at Parma-South was originally designed in 1930 as a master plan for a new Presbyterian Church building in Parma Heights, OH. The tower was architecturally inspired from "North Church" in Boston. Though not constructed until the entire Tower and Sanctuary were built in 1951, it is one that nearly seems historic in the western suburbs of Cleveland.

Built to last with heavy I-beams and internal construction, the exterior colonial woodwork, pillars, balustrades and general "gingerbread" is of wood that gets weather beaten in the Cleveland winds, weather, snow and sun.

Though it has been maintained and painted over the years, your recommendations and keen eye for detail and knowledge of what needed to be done was the most positive thing I've heard and seen in many years as the chairperson of our Properties Committee. My knowledge of that tower, its make-up, its history and maintenance goes back 30 years.

It was refreshing to not only talk to someone who knows what to do, but see the work first hand being done step-by-step as you took me and anyone up to see the progress. Nothing was disguised or hidden. In the situation of a steeple, a quick fix would be easy to hide. This sure was not the case at Parma-South!

We look forward to working with you for other painting and restoration projects on our New England Style Colonial church. With the complex built between 1931 and 1974, there is always maintenance to be done. It was super to finally find a contractor who truly cares about their workmanship and be proud of it.

Please feel free to use my letter as a recommendation or have anyone contact me at steelsupplyjohn@gmail.com

Sincerely,
John. W. Decker
