In fact his grandfather, who was a ferry captain in Narraganset, RI known for his woodworking skills was asked by local Navy ship builders to hand carve a small-scale model from drawings. Using a block of drift-wood Michaels grampa carved out what became one of our countrys first nuclear submarines.
