As a matter of fact..
1. A steeple in architecture is a tall tower on a building, topped by a spire and often incorporating a belfry and other components. Steeples are very common on Christian churches and cathedrals and the use of the term generally connotes a religious structure. They may be stand-alone structures, or incorporated into the entrance or center of the building.
2. Steeplejacks raise ladders along church spires, industrial lamp chimney*, cooling down towers, bell towers, clock towers, or whatever other high structure. In the UK, steeplejacks now use a belay rope fall-arrest system (alike to the method applied by rock climbers) attached to the ladders because they are erected to eliminate free climb and greatly reduce the risk of falls from elevation.
3. Once ladders have been erected, the following stage is commonly to suspend a bosun's chair (a accented wooden board on which the steeplejack can sit, pull himself upwards or lower himself downwards, or sit in a fixed position), but rappel equipment is putting back the bosun's chair on many procedures because of its lighter weight.
